Shoes and Ships and Ceiling Wax

I realize that since my trip I haven’t been the most regular of posters.  My excuse?

I have two dear friends getting married, and I’m helping with both their weddings.

Tomorrow night’s wedding, I’m a bridesmaid, and I spent two days this week making gorgeous fabric flowers for the decorations and bouquets.  (Did you know that toilet paper makes cute adorable flowers?  Pictures to come Monday.)  Plus helping her get her house ready for company, ect.

We MAY have eaten far too much junk food and had a few rum and Dr. Peppers.

BUT, calories don’t count when you’re working this hard.

Ask anyone.  It’s true.

Then, my other friend, who’s getting married in a week, I get to make her cake.

Talk.  About. Awesome.

I’m so excited.  And I won’t tell you anything about it until I can post gorgeous pictures of it and show you how amazing I hope it turns out.  :p

Also…   I MAY have gotten slightly obsessed with the show Dollhouse by Joss Whedon.

It MAY have gotten to a point yesterday that I decided it wasn’t healthy to watch five episodes in one day and that I needed to take quite a break from it for a while.  You know, just to maintain sanity, and not going around saying things like:

“Would you like a treatment?”

“I like pancakes.”

“Porn!”  (Don’t judge me.  There’s no porn in it, it was a funny quote in context.  Ahem.)

So I haven’t really cooked anything, or created any finished item, (other than flowers which you’ll see later,) or collected any great piece of art to rave about, or even gone thrift store shopping and found amazing deals.

I did help Seth with a gutter job…

And I did weed the garden.

And while I wasn’t looking, Jack was picking up handfuls and handfuls of an ant’s nest…

Thankfully, there were no ants in it that morning.

Oh, Maddy gave him a mohawk.

And his OTHER aunts, tried to teach him to put trash cans on his head.

It’s been a busy week.

About Tabi

I love the simple things in life, like, wearing skirts and going barefoot. Cooking glorious meals to feed friends and family. Trying to find healthy food at the grocery store on a limited budget. Spinning wool, (yes that's from sheep and goats and llamas), crocheting, and weaving. Picking fresh produce out of a garden, pouring real maple syrup over pancakes, and making a warm and loving home for my family. However, I don't use only whole wheat flour. I do not take reusable grocery bags to the store with me. I indulge in boxed meals when I must. I prefer sugar to honey. I do not shop at Whole Foods, Trader Joes, or Earth Fare except on very special occasions when I have extravagant amounts of money to spend. I HATE cloth diapers. I believe in breastfeeding babies, but not until they're five. I buy pre-made baby food. Somewhere in all this, I want to find the balance between the fanatical and the uncaring. Somehow, I hope to settle on doable.
